My MOT guy has an issue with it every year so we googled it from his office, couldn't find anything?

There was a small issue with the handbrake but he did some maths and percentages and she passed that bit but it would be really useful to know for next time :)

I don't understand what you mean by "the brake testing weight".

If you mean the weight of the vehicle, its in the owners handbook.

If you don't have one you can download and print one here http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/type2.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope this helps - - "dude" :lol:

Lol Cheers Trikky ;)

Aparently its not the weight in the handbook, its some technical stuff that they have a chart for most vehicles or it comes up when they log in?

It might be the same as the kerbside weight though?

Ah I see what you mean now. I have looked it up.

Vehicle classes https://www.m6toll.co.uk/pricing/vehicle-classification/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Your bus would be in class 4 so they use the vehicle weight plus an allowance. This is a copy paste from the testers manual :-

""Class 3 & 4

Determine the brake testing weight for the vehicle, e.g. from the VTS Device. The weight includes an element of 140kg for the driver, fuel, tools, etc.

Calculate the service brake percentage efficiency by dividing the total brake effort achieved when the service brake is applied by the vehicle weight and then multiplying the result by 100

Total Brake Effort / Vehicle Weight X 100 = % Efficiency

Calculate the parking brake percentage efficiency by dividing the total brake effort achieved when the parking brake is applied by the vehicle weight and then multiplying the result by 100, as above.""

Copy pasted from here :- http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_380.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So the owners manual should help the tester next time around.

Thanks Trikky :) Thats what he was on about, I had shown him my owners manual but he says the info is not in there?

Its passed its MOT but I thought I would write the weight on my log book for next year, I still can't work out what that weight is ? lol

From memory the vehicle weights are on page 74 of the owners manual - otherwise just look up "weights" in the index at the back of the manual.

All the tester needs is the vehicle weight and add 140kg according to the MOT manual.

Cheers guys :) He read all the weights in the manual ans said that wasn't it, its kerbside weight and something else I forgot :?

You would think he would know by now he's been MOTing her for 25 years lol

I will ask him more next week when the passat is up for scrutiny ;)
