can i get an new standard one or upgrade?

had the van service runs much better but still stalls at junctions usually only downhill ones for some reason but i've been told its down to the carb being on its way out.

refurb kit for a few quid plus I think could be wrong but bayview was off loading some (not new though).....

thanks for advice but i think i'd buy a new one cos cant be sure if a 2nd hand one would be any good

the problem is that you wont get a good solex anymore rather a cheap re-worked copy....

you will probably be better getting a kit for yours and possibly having the spindle re-bushed see this guys ebay

sounds like a plan although i have no idea who i'd get to fit hte kit etc seen as i have zero skills with anything mechanical!

its running better at moment but still stalls when stopping at a junction down hill?

Sorry dave gonna hijack this for a bit....

Anyone used/using SUs'..... I know it was done in the seventies due to the simplicity and so easy to dial in for economy and power..... set up and forget.....

or anyone running fish carbs???

more interested in the fish I know they did them with the manifold for the T1 motor and they dont come up often at all.....

Do a search for bugjulie on VZi her hubby refurbs carbs.

Just a word of warning here........... my carb runs fine, but im into preventative maintenance, so contacted the above, and he is very helpful (and recomemnded) but, the carb we fitted didnt run anywhere near as good at my OG one, we changed the jets from mine to the refurbed one and used some other combinations recomended, but ended up with my carb going back on and a wasted journey, im not saying it was anyones fault just be aware that you could spend ££s and not get a better result then what you have.

Just

I picked one up about a year ago from GSF and it was a proper solex when i opened the box, well happy. Give them a try cant harm can it.

A pukka solex..... interesting they've been out of business a while now and some itallian outfit owns them and weber amongst others, although they do license the rights out to manufacture BOCAR, Brosals, Empi etc........

Froggy yeah found it myself...he he ... trying to come to a deal on it..... just fancy summit a bit different, there were issues with build quality so trying to find good ones is fecking difficult....I've only seen one fitted and running on a bug in the early 90s....

never seen any SU's though just wondering if anyone has tried fitting single or twin ? possibly 1.5 s' or 1.75 s' ????

cant be that difficult getting/casting some manifolds.....
