FAO all you CB enthusiasts!! I want to get a CB radio for my bus but also that i can use in my wagon at work!! Is there a portable CB or a handheld equivalent that i could use??

You see i`m in my truck 95% of the time but wouldn`t want it left in there??
How much?
Where From?

Cheers guys

I have no idea but this shop is about 1 minute away from me and are specialists. They sold me a mic for the CB we had in our old baja.

we had them when we were younger, doubt you can use them in vehicles now though with the current laws....
maybe talking rubbish though :?

Loads of people have them in cars and truckers do ..course you can still use them

how come you can't use your phone, or eat an apple at the wheel
but you can use a hand held cb then?

Erm i may of understood u earlier , you can use cb's but im not sure how the law stands on the hand held ones

There are handheld ones that allow you to connect a mic to thus you can use it like a fixed CB radio.

I spent a lot of time Cb'ing in my younger years, you used to be able to buy an item called a snatch plate which operates similar to a pc and docking port system. You have a male plate mounted on the cb and a female plate mounted in each vehicle, so you can plug your cb into either vehicle and use it. The legal signal power output for a cb is 4 watts, dont know how this compares to the output of a mobile phone tho

The law changed in 2006 to allow use of FM CB radios without the need of a licence.

Snatch / quick release plates are available, the size of the new generation CB's compared to the 80's kit is great - they're loads smaller!

I've just got a new one for my bus :D - Midland 98 plus from Amazon (Marketplace) only £43 brand new (£60 - 70 normally!)

I've got two old CB's in working order if you looking for a cheap one? (need Mikes and I only have power lead) £10 + p&p...
