ive got to change a gaitor on my drive shaft .

is it a easy job or are there any tips. :D

use an crocadile, they last longer!

not a hard job but can be messy cos of the old grease. make sure you have the correct splined tool for the cv bolts, allen keys chew them up.
although the replacement bolts are often allen headed?

also make sure you have some good circlip pliers to remove the cv joint.
check the CV's for wear n tear
to be honest id change both on that side while you have it off.
good luck

cheers will have a go next weekend :D

took your advice and have got all 4 as the engines out should make it a little easier

if the engines out its a lot easier. just have plenty of newspaper, rag or kitchen roll handy.
also be gentle with the cvs as if you twist them too much the ball bearings pop out! id clean the cvs in a pot of degreaser and repack them well with clean grease, it should come with the new gaitors.
good luck dude

STAG DO THIS WEEKEND SO MAYBE NOT THIS WEEKEND.

maybe i can spend a hour or two on saturday if surface after tonight

SLACKER!!!!

have a stag party working on the bus! that could be interesting

Where I used to work, the local MOT garage had a tool that would stretch a CV gaitior over the joint, thus making it much quicker to do.

If your shafts are off, you may be able to pop it down somewhere & get them fitted in 5 minutes without getting smothered in grease.

The garage is in Henley on Thames, not that it helps.
