Chassis numbers and build dates?

Hi!

Gonna be regestering my "70" Westy soon.

Got insurance, HMCE duty paid form, V555 is it?, and MOT.

Chassis number is 2302245692

A 1970 model year - but built in 69? is that correct? But how do I find out when it was built so I can get a age related plate? Or will the DVLA just give me a 1970 reg number??

I would prefer a 1969 reg, is this possible?

I dont have any other paperwork from California either - unless the guy I bought it off has?

Any ideas?

Hi,

You can decode the day and month your bus was built via the VIN plate/chassis number (see link below).

This information would determine whether your bus is a '69 or a '70 reg' suffix.

You should also write to VW to obtain the buses "birth certificate" as this will prevent the DVLA giving you the wrong reg' suffix.

take the details from your M plate as your chassis number indicates its a 70 van the date of build is indicated on the bottom left three digits of the M plate. it will be the week number and the day of the week

have you got the title? If not you could join the VWOC(GB) and they will provide a age verification service that all DVLA stations will honour. In fact they`ll do it if your not already a member...but will ask you to join! If you have the title then you`re sorted.Make sure your HMRC form is either a C&E388 OR 389. Normally takes two days, but can occaisionally be quicker

Some other number on a silver theft proof sticker, all stamped VW......

I am not sure on the paint code, i seem to get Pearle white or Lotus white, but isnt Pearle Whire a earlier than 70 clour, and Lotus a later colour?????

And if it is built in 70 is it a 71 model year? If so, it has wide 5 and drums on?

Hi all!

Well, Eventually got around to sorting the reg out, all done and taxed, need to get plates now. Want old black and raised white plastic letters, cant find anywhere........? Anyone??

Also, please look at my M codes above, i cant work out what pain i need and what some of the other codes are.....

Any help greatfully received!!
