Taking a chance the bus will be ready in time, but booked the eurotunnel crossing this afternoon before the prices rise again. Leaving 06.50 on the 1st July coming back early evening on the Sunday.

Remembered a tip from Clem about using Tesco vouchers, so £30 of vouchers gave £90 of value against the trip so actual cost of £44 :D

Every finger and toe crossed, as really been looking forward to this trip - another first

Booked on the 8am ferry on Thursday morning with the Leeds and Sheffield clubs, so i'll try find this line-up when i get there.

I still have a ticket for sale for this if anyone wants a cheap(er) ticket. :(

I just booked the ferry, Dover-Dunquerque

Midnight-ish Thursday to 0800 Monday £48 return. Pretty good deal I reckon.

Dover-Dunkirque, 20.00 Thursday and 08.00 Monday. £39 return!!!!!

Woohoo!!! For once I have bought a ticket cheaper than Clem and no vouchers involved either! Did book it back in October though 8)

Scary thought for the morning, just 27 days to go........

27 days to go and my engine is sat on my garage floor with massive end float andI'm of on holidays for 2 weeks!

I am dropping it off at a mates house for some work tomorrow though :)

fingers crossed its ok, or I may be there in a Mk3 Golf :(

My only retort can be that me and Wally are sharing, so it's a half price trip!

Got engine on the floor & no front suspension to talk of......

A week to go  .
As of Friday, will be working silly hours on a factory shutdown through to Wednesday so made the most of an unexpected early shoot on Monday. Went through the front brakes (clean, de-glaze, adjust) re-greased front wheel bearings, lubed front steering and suspension (king & link pin) and adjusted rear drums/hand brake. Did engine tune up just before Ninove so just the usual 'pre going anywhere' checks to do (oil level, brake fluid, belt ok, no wires/leads/fuel lines about to fall off...) 8)
Ferry booking details, EBI ticket, passport, driving licence and bus insurance details all together in an envelope along with an old school paper map (!) in a suitably prominent position on the kitchen table so that they can easily be fogotten on the day....
Just got to get hold of Aarons passport, tell the bus insurers of the trip and sort personal travel insurance (Post Office?)
Better pay me some wages too, don't need the overdraught hitting the buffers when trying to fill up with fuel over there :? .
I'm not over popular with the lads, as the shutdown gets really silly workwise as of the Thursday (the day I leave) and ends on Monday 4th, the day I travel home.
Oh well, I'm sure they'll survive and there is no way I'm missing this!!!!! :D

well f*ck me Pete!!!!! how organsied are you!!!!! Shelley reckons you'd make a good "wife"

I have done nothing other then MOT the bus. Still theres always next week

Im going to be at panic stations on Wednesday night me thinks. Were going away this weekend so not got anytime to pack or sort anything. Think a few late nights coming up!! Especially after my front left brake overheating after about 15 mins on way to bus stopover last weekend. School boy error by me over adjusting it.

I'm working on the basis that if I look after the bus, it'll look after me!! ;)

If I don't get stuff together well in advance and put it where I have to trip over it, then chances are it will get forgotten on the day! I've had that 'twisted knot in the stomach, bile rising' feeling too many times in the past when getting well en-route and realising that some minor thing such as my wallet/passport/tickets are still sat on the kitchen worktop.

I once set off to paint the beach hut, got halfway there when the penny dropped that no, I didn't actually get around to loading the car the night before and all the paint, brushes etc were still sat on the garage floor..........

Without doubt there will be something left behind! :D

  Yer ill try not to forget anything too important. Pete what time are you setting off for Dover?

As soon as possible, bearing in mind that Aaron doesn't get out of school until 3pm! We have a plan, in that I may well pick him up from school in the bus (all loaded and ready to go), stop at his Mums for him to shower/change then hopefully head out through Peterborough towards the A1 around 3.30pm. It is possible in this timescale, we shall see what happens.....

We really do need to make good time though, should be checked in by 7.15pm for an 8pm crossing. Leaving at 3.30 would give us 3 and 3/4 hours to get there, which is about right so long as Dartford bridge and M25 are not too horrific.
Fingers crossed :?

Brain dead moment here. After the dreaded Dartford crossing, AA routeplanner says M20/A20 which I have used for the tunnel but am convinced for Dover have always used A2/M2/A2. Any thoughts as to which is better, i.e. quickest? Ta!

Ha ha ha!!!! Brilliant stuff ya pair of bloody idiots!!!!

On a different note, not impressed that the teachers have decided to strike (I want to take him out of school for a trip and I'm scum, they want to prevent him attending school, it's ok. Was called 'bullying' when I was a kid...)
But anyway, their timing couldn't be better for us, means his school is closed on Thursday so we can leave as early as we like!!!! :D :D :D
