Hi all,
Just lately my clutch pedal isn't returning when depressed, comes about half way back up then i have to pull it up with my foot, and also i seem to have lost alot of power, when i pull it up with my foot there is instant increase in power but still not as fast as it was..its as if the engine is reving well but the power is not transfering to the wheels? the biting point is very low too an inch off floor with pedal..

did have a new clutch fitted last yr,standard 1600,lhd westy

any help would be grand!

Clutch release bearing. Sounds like that to me, mine was doing the same I changed it and the pedal now bounces back up nicely. Could also try adjusting it

It will be engine out to replace really easy job though. Have a look in the haynes or http://www.vw-resource.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for clutch adjustment

Had very similer symptons following this winter and turned out to be clutch pedal corrosion at the bush, strip, clean, and grease fixed it. Had to hammer the pedal out, but re-assembles easy once clean.
