About to refit big end bearing caps.

Bentley talks about early nuts, which used to be locked by peening, & newer nuts.
It says to use new type nuts if your old ones have previuosly been peened.

How do I know if my nuts are old or new ? :?

Are new ones nyloc type?

Does anyone use loctite - obviously the correct grade.

Phil.

think the old type you pean over. new type you dont.

I thread locked mine after torquing evenly and correctly.

Older style have a groove which leaves a thinner bit you can peen to a groove in the rod . You can reuse them by mixing up which rod they came from .loctite messes up the torque value so avoid .
