i think i have a leak from the crank seal on me bus,just done arond trip of about 40 miles on motorway and have the famous oil spray on the the back gutted had a look seems to be dripping on the join from box to engine any dos and donts on replacing this and or things to do while engine out 1600tp

Chamfer the edge of the seal bore in the engine casing before trying to get the new seal in, stops it catching the edge of the seal, also get some sealing compound to put round the edge of the new seal, a thin smear of some thing like blue hylomar.

Also check end float on the crank once oil drained, and re-shim if required. Its also worth checking that the bearing in the flywheel gland nut is ok.

Your going to need to leave the engine support bar on when you undo the fly wheel gland nut, as the torque is so big it will try to turn the engine over on the floor, 260 ish newton meters. :shock:
