CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

Hello all

does anyone know what is the best crankshaft oil seal

as i would like to only do this once

i have seen two on jk website

one is silicone and red in colour

other is original type and black in colour

or maybe any recommendations if you have done yours

all input is appreciated

Just go to your main VW dealer and buy one from them... you can see the part number in the pic below.

I bought a few approx 5 years ago, they were under £5 each.

so that look like it is genuine vw

would you say they are the best in quality

better than any aftermarket silicone
or something else that a supplier is selling

OEM will always be best, especially with stuff like this.

Make sure that it is the seal though, and not that your engine has excessive end float. You just can't seal an overly worn engine effectively.
