I've got some cab step rubbers from JK, they looked great until I tried to fit em!!!

I've started modifying them now but to no avail so far.

These little pegs seem to be in the right place but don't go in far enough!

I've cut the side tabs off on one of them,

First attempt to stick them on I used double sided tape, which has stuck REALLY well to the metal bit not at all to the rubber!

Has anyone else fitted these??
& if so how? :? :? :? :?

If they came from JK I would just bin them, learn from your mistake and don't buy from them again, sorry to sound negative but that is just my personal experience of jk parts.
Maybe try custom and commercial or ask Rackhams of Ipswich where they get there step rubbers from as they seem to use good quality well fitting products.

Hi,
send them back, you are entitled to a full refund under the SGA. they are not fot for purpose and are are of unsatisfactory quality. I would get a pair from C & c but ask for the best quality which are Wolfsburg West. You should'nt have to "make them fit" :x

Well I,ve fetched them home so I can work on them in the warmth,
They'll fit somewhere near by the time I 've finished with them :suicide: ??

In my usual manner I've started hacking them up already
So don't think they'll take em back!!!
They were £27' how much are WCM ones?? Just out of interest!

Have you considered bathing them in hot water to soften the rubber? Might just help them mould in to place.

Well bathing them in hot water just made them wet

Super dooper unbelievable sealer stuff from B&Q, we'll see eh??

This is the stuff I wanted to use but I think it's gone off

So I chopped the little lugs off the rubber step in order to slide them a few mm further forward, the double sided tape wouldn't shift so I put the sealer on top of it!!

Then wrapped it in masking tape,

Before resting it under something heavy,

Let's see what happens now then???

Well what do you think?

It's got a little split in at the end to try n make it bend round the corner better.
But you can see it so,

I found some black pond liner sealer n stuck that in,
personally I think it looks passable now!!!!

Just typical of the quality of so many repro parts that we pay for and just don't cut the mustard

Aye you don't expect to have to spend half a day fitting one tiny little part like this!!
Still got the other side to do yet

I would pm josh jk on here, he works for jk and see what he thinks about these quality parts they sold you  ......what a mess about for you with all the fettling buying glue and pond liner stuff just to make them look passable.......i wouldnt be happy if i were you, well done though you have more patience than me

regards....kev

Cheers Kev, shouldn't take as long to do the other side cos I've already done it once now!
Might just use the pond liner stuff next, it seems to work canny & it's black!!!!

Try using a heat gun on a low setting most of the rubber /plastic parts need warming to make them fit

All the best mate, bet Kats really pleased you're now rebuilding ithe bus on the kitchen table!

Wey aye, she's ower the moon!! :fighting0030:

Yep had the heat gun on it, helps a little bit, but the rubber is thick n I don't want to burn it.

I've just purchased a set of jk step rubbers from ebay. New n unused. I only need one. I tell u what the quality don't compare to the one that was originally on my van.. I've only just pushed it on at mo but I'll take it off if it don't fall off first and try some of your ideas like heating it up maybe blowtortch ???
