What was the year that cross overs started???

Was it late 71 on a J or was it only from 72 on K?

Good question innit! 8)

Nice one fella! 8)

Does that mean that these have the non removeable rear valance? :D

Cross overs were the 72 year model, so built from Aug 71 onwards.

Full-fat chicks were 73, so built from Aug 72.

No (German built) cross over should have the removeable rear valence as Im aware.

Nice one Clem, me and a mate were looking at one the last week and we were trying to work out what it was. :D As there had been some mods.

yep just confirming that - I have a brochure that shows the new commercial range for the 72 model year (so Aug. 71) and all the vans shown are crossovers ... (will be putting some scans of my earlybay brochures up soon ...)

Nice one dudes 8) our problem is indeed solved.

Earlybay - looking forward to the brochures! Ive got a scanned copy of the 1970 one including mine when it was a microbus 8) Would love an original, better keep them eyes peeled I suppose

yep - I know its mentioned a few times about getting a scanned literature section on the site - theres a good section on the Samba but they dont have a lot of the EarlyBay brochures - Im starting to sort through the ones Ive got (and sell all the split-screen and Late Bay ones I have ...)

Got my one from the samba, there is some good old stuff on there, like paint codes etc. 8)

i have a commercial brochure from the states with a red panel van on the front, late front, early rear vents and one off bumpers!
if i had a scanner id put it up here

vw brochures are one of my collections!

For my taste (and I stress, for my taste) the beginning of the end was slotted wheels & flat hubcaps  which I think was August 1970 on (UK J plate). All downhill from there

Mine April 1970 8)

Also is anyone else finding the site very slow?

Still super slow for me?!

Mines a Jan 1970! 8)

IMHO anything built after July '68 is a late Bay.
