What are the opinions out there regarding fitting Type 3 "Cooltins" instead of the type 1 "Deflector Plates" to cylinder heads?

Anyone with experience of doing this?

Thanks...

I’ve got them on my 2110, doesn’t run any hotter or cooler. Hasn’t been detrimental but wasn’t beneficial either

That's because the type 3 has a different cooling arrangement, the engine bay has no hot and cool zones as it's completely open.
As sparkywig says i also agree, there`s a bulletin that says the type 3 tin should not be used as it would reduce the cooling on a type 1 engine. If it was better, VW themselves would have used it and improved cooling of their AC engines :D

Abel :)

I did It on my own engine as there has been on going debates over it and wanted to see if they do make it Run hotter but I’ve seen no noticeable change in cylinder or head temp so I won’t bother removing them until I need to do push rod tube seals or something.

Was purely a test, so no I wouldn’t bother
