Well today I found out that I have been working with someone for 6 months whose father owned and ran danbury. Apparently he was a salesman and managed the works side of it for a short period back in the day.

I assume you do mean the 'original' Danbury company?

Your friend may be interested in this video, which I've had on my favourites since it first appeared on YouTube. It features some of the Danbury history, including an interview with Joy Dawson.
I don't know whether she is still alive or not, but she is one person I would so love to have met, and have a long chat with.

Yup the original company. That's an interesting clip, I don't think my friend would enjoy it though. Joy Dawson was his stepmother and I get the impression they weren't particularly close. I think I need to take him out for a beer at some point and see what stories he has, he doesn't seem to be a fan of the vans. "Awful things to drive" was one quote from today, I don't think it helped that he rolled one once :shock:

That's a shame your friend isn't really into the scene, though like you say, it's probably not helped by the fact he had an accident in a van. Maybe you can slowly bring him round to liking them!

If you do get to take him out for a beer, I'd love to (being a Danbury nerd for most of my life

:lol: ) hear back from you anything interesting he has to tell. I've always wondered where exactly in Danbury the factory was. I guess the site has maybe been redeveloped, but I've always fancied visiting there in my bus, and taking a photo of it in the location where the factory was!
