Hi,
can anyone tell me how to remove the sunroof from my 70 deluxe?
I guess the fixing screws are accessed from inside the apeture when the roof is wound back? could be a problem due the fact it has been closed for 20 odd years (siezed) :(

Needs to come as out as I have water leak issues. Am I right is saying that there is a channel that runs down to the back of the van ,and water exits via a plastic pipe down the quarters?
The metal pipe that the plastic pipe attatches to has disintergrated causing a proper old leak.

Leaky roof? welcome to the sunroof gang :) If you can unclip the headliner on your slider(front part) it should slide back exposing the fixings. I think Irish Jerry on here has just removed his, may be worth a PM. Good luck.

Well said sunroof and slider is out and took about an hour after much jiggling to release the headliner panel to enable me to slide it far enough back to remove the lid.
Sadly where it has sat so long unopened (20 odd years) and the fact that the drain channel had retained water, it has rusted out on a big chunk of the lid in the rear offside corner. :(

Have decided to push the boat out and fit a 'Paris canvas slider' (Webasto type) to the old girl. Not cheap at £300+ but seems my best option.

If anyone requires any parts I have from the original then lt me know. The frame is good and with a little cleaning and greasing will be fine, the headling panel is ok, but as I said the lid is rotten but only on the inner frame. Free to whoever want them. :)

i will have anything you have got, i have been looking for all kinds for ages and was messed about by a guy of the samba and lost a bit of money. let me know what you have got i am very interested :) i will take the headliner panel etc.

Hi Mike, bug*er :(

I was thinking today how to make a neat job of the headlining.I decided to retain the frame and attatch the headliner panel to the runner brackets, and then get it recovered. This means I can keep things neat and tidy and just wind back when I need the Webasto open.

So sorry m8 :( but if you need the lid and can fix it then its all yours

ah no worries, i'll have to get creative with plyboard

i have 2 roof lids so im fine on that score i think, just jeed to source the handles, boss etc...

i've managed to get hold of cables but the ends are missing luckily enough i've got the 2 piece ends that were already on the existing roof so hopefully i can fab some up and crimp them on somehow :) cheers anyway man :D

There was a deluxe breaker on Samba a few days ago. I emailed him about the sunroof and he said it was sound and working ok. He would not consider removing it but wanted to sell as a job lot. $300 ono and shipping.

i've had it with the samba, i bought everything i need for $420 and guess what it never arrived and I never got my money back :x some ******s on there!
