Different leisure battery question

Just bought a new leisure battery and to my surprise it came with a short length of clear plastic pipe and a right angle connector. Having looked around the battery I can only find one place on the battery where the connector fits, on one end of the top cap of the battery. Am I right in thinking this may well be a vent pipe to allow the venting of gases outside of the battery box or mounting area whilst being charged in the vehicle?

Think your on the right lines with the venting theory, it might also be an overflow from the electrolyte (the water in the battery)
