just been blasting through the new rides and projects etc and have noticed that whilst most are rocking buses that not many are going down, proper down.

obviously theres the usual suspects , are there any new kids on the block?

there was a thread yesterday bout a guy who sold his splitty to get two bays ( sorry forgot the name) he said one was on the deck.

iNEED to see this!

haha just general observation whilst passing the time at work.

jth......... now wheres that coffee , oh there it is. life is tuff!

Looking in to it as you know at the mo but as usual it comes down to cost I would say.

They look the dogs dangles when there on the floor but probably plenty £££££££

P.s you on a night shift as well?

I think it often comes down to cost, comfort and reliability.

I once owned one of the lowest buses around, along with Egotrippin, Grazy and Monkeyspinner. Now mine looks pretty high compared to some of the new guys on the block.

I wanted to go as low as physically possible without cutting, tubbing and compromise on safety and comfort. I am happy with the result.

However, seeing the work the Egotrippin has done on his recently I may put some thought into a couple of additional mods??..?.

Working on mine at the mo. I'm at decision point now. As it stands, I can get away with 2" tubs, C notches and a trim of the moustache :D
Any lower and its engine raise time and if I do that I may as well switch to a bug box and get it narrowed some too, and if I do that I'll have to fit air so I can get it on and off the ferries etc etc. Costs and time begin to escalate considerably to get it down that last 3"
Decisions decisions!!!

tried uploading it from photobucket but cant seem to do it

You need to use the IMG link.

If you are using the new style photobucket hover the mouse over the photo you want to use, click the cog icon that pops up and select get links from the menu that pops up, then click on the IMG link to copy it it, then come back here and paste it into your post ;)

I think its the fact there is such a toss up between practicality and lowness. Bays are hard to get really low i think mines still sky high but its a pain to drive and if i wanted to go any lower it would be a massive amount of work. and would it be usable any more? probably not.
I already ruined one car and ended up stranded in belgium from being too low so trying my best to avoid that with the bus

An interesting topic this one really...

I've just had my bus back from Slamwerks last week, where the brief I gave to Guy was to get it as low as possible without notching..

And fair play, he has done exactly as I asked, I have no complaints what so ever...

And the reason I gave that brief was three fold:

1) I was put off buying a bus when I first started out because it had a notched chassis. I am a structural design engineer, so things like this sit uneasily with me. I am 90% sure there is nothing to worry about, but there's that voice in the back of my head.. the same voice that helps keep aircraft safe!

2) I wanted to keep my bus practical for use, I don't want to struggle to get it off my drive, or have to crawl over every speed bump waiting for something to scrap/bang/break off* (*delete as applicable!)

3) I see my bus as a keeper. definitely. but one day in the distant future I may wish to sell it, and I am worried (again, perhaps unnecessarily) about the resale value of a bus with such mods as notching..

Now, to back pedal a little, my bus ride height is now pretty much where I would like it.. maybe another inch down would be just so, but I am already concerned about driveshaft clearance to the chassis rails etc..

So, back pedalling a little more, the last time I spoke to Guy (last Friday) was to enquire about notching my bus!

I haven't done it yet... there is one heck of a battle going on in my head right now.....

Mine is going down another spline or 2 at the rear and the front is gonna be a bit more .. just need to play around to get the perfect stance :D

I know of one thats getting lots of work to go low but there is not thread on here yet, we could just post pictures of the usual subjects to aid your fix a bit,

got mine pretty low now, you can get the low and keep them very usable, engine and box raise was a great mod on mine, im just waiting to get my rear notches a little larger and mine will go down further. then i will need to replace my front beam as its an older beam and does not have the idler pin raised.

its all about money, nothing selling at all so not that many new buses been built. Looking forward to seeing peachys bus being done, i remember seeing it packed full of stuff at dubfreeze last year and i mean packed full to the roof. will try to get my mate to do a build thread but you have seen that one already john, the one on the cosmics ;)

Fleeb1 we NEED to see more photos of your dude.

Pete

I keep wacking my idler pin as she is a bit too low in fact i had to trim a bit off the bottom of the beam just to be able to drive her :?

If i had the funds i would invest in having the pin raised but i need two front arch cut's before i think of that.

personally i love a slammed bus whether its practical or not

mark

Ps I've got wagonswest 2.5 dropped spindles with tubs up front
Down one spline with horseshoe plates and small rear notches :D
Adjustable spring plates coming asap

I'm in the middle of doing mine .

So far have raised the engine/box an inch , fitted Balls'd rear notches & have adjustable spring plates with horse shoes .
Got a k&l beam with dropped spindles on the way & will notch & tub as req .

I was going to put hydro's on , but the spending is getting a little out of hand , so will stay static but low .

Me & my bro are doing all the work in our spare time & when i can afford .

photo's everyone!!! I actually think it's a illness. I don't think my bus looks low :? But I do think there's too low  please don't shoot me, but the lowly gentleman green early bay is too low. If I think if I could get between my stance and the body drop eb, to me that would be static perfection. I could go lower as its on it's highest settings, but it rides a beaut! still need to fit the interior and let it settles maybe mine will drop more.
