Earlybay push button

I wondered if the knowledgable amongst you can explain the early bay "push button" for me. I have one and wondered the following:

1) was the push button for one year only?
2) was it an option?
3)where can I find out more info on push button models?

Are we talking door handles here?
If so then they are 68 only door handles, standard not an option.

Yes door handles, sorry I didn't explain better. So they were just the 68 year only? Know of any links for more info.

What do you need to know Tony? The were a splitscreen handle from 63ish and carried on to the 1st year of bay production. VW part number is 211-837-205. You can get repro replacements or replacement parts from most places. Take care as the length of the paddle which activates the door pull is different for particular years.
