hi I am looking for some advice on an engine build, my long time mechanic and friend passed away back in July and have just got around to rebuilding an engine we started together. I have gone back to square one so to speak. it's an 1835cc or so I was told this is a rebuild of an engine I got off of another friend once he blew it up in his beetle it's a hanger case and might end up in my 71 kombi.

anyway to my question, it has a standard cam what would be a good cam choice to replace this; I am not looking for a wild engine just a bit more up and go. Also in terms of full flow what pump setup is recommended.

any answers appreciated

and might I say having read several threads here on the builds some of you are working on I take my hat off to you such amazing work!

What carbs you using? Engle 100 or 110, the 110 will however give a bit more top end oppsosed to the 100's bottom end torque. As for full flow, do it the tried & tested old skool way and get the case tapped with a full flow pump cover and run an external oil filter. An external oil cooler & deep sump won't be needed if it's a mild build providing all the tinware fit properly and is sealed.

its more what heads are you using ,what cfm they will flow as that dictats carb size and cam as well as engine cc.

thanks for the info so far...I need to pull the engine down and check out what is there, as for carbs I don't have any for it yet, just wanted to get some idea of a better cam than stock more low power it's not going to be a high power monster....well not at the moment....
