Engine id

According to my vans history it 72 crossover got a new engine in 2005. On the invoice it says "new 1600 motor".

Looking more into it I found the engine code and I have discovered the engine code is: W0565**P. As far as I can see this is a type 4 1700 unit but to me it doesn't look like one? It just looks like a 1600 unit.

So what have I got or why the code is wrong??

Is your van an import??

Imports generally had type 4s fitted from 72, whereas UK busses were usually 1600 type 1s...

But as said, that engine is a type 1 :smile:

I'm in Australia and its an Aussie van, am just confused by the engine code, looks like I will have no idea what specs it is until it gets opened up sometime in the future
