Jane's bay with the same sound treatment as my split is sending much more engine noise through the heater system. Have the engine bay covered, sides, roof, floor, and just finished a rubber backed panel under the dash. The noise is coming through the windscreen demisters. Differences are 2L engine instead of 1600, the pipes are bigger on the bay, there is flexy aluminium pipe between the heaters and the fixed pipes, ie no valves, the heaters are much bigger. Is it the lack of valves? which should I go for, to match the engine or the van? Are the later engines aluminium and the early engines magnesium, is this it?

you need to find original style heater tubes as they will baffle the noise from the engine. the metal ones you have are probably hollow. took me awhile to figure that same problem on my 69

You need a pair of item 19 here or similar

They are designed to damp out the noise.
