Hi guys wonder if anyone has any ideas about the problem im having. When you drive along at about 30 it 4th so your just cruising with only a bit of throttle you get this jerky feeling. Same happens with your in 3rd doing about 25ish. Its from the engine best i can describe is its lumpy kind of jumping a bit. (not a great discription).
The guy who works on my van said could be the dissy and to change it for a 009 but hearing interesting things about the 009. Im running single carb stock setup.

Cheers for you help

Matt

Hiya Matt,

Allow me to answer your question with a question....................

Are you also having a problem with the idle? For example, when you slow down to stop for a traffic light are you having any problems with the engine cutting out or dieing?

No it was doing that before it went and had a load of work done to the engine. Thats all sorted now just this last problem.
Cheers

Yer it's fine when your giving it a bit of gas but when you back off and are just cruising a low revs say 35mph in 4th so im only using a bit of throtle thats when it happens.

Hi!

Could also be worn throttle shaft on the carb, sucking air past. Give the shaft a good wiggle and see how much play there is. There is a sticky in tech about changing the bushes, and also look at the thread titled "flat spot"

Certainly as Pete mentioned, points, ignition timing and valve clearances - always a good idea to make sure they are spot on, especially if it's been a while since they were checked - i need to check my valve gaps too.....

I had the value clearences done yesterday and all the timing was done about 2 weeks ago. Could it be a dirty carb? Is it worth changing to a 009 dissy as hearing not great things about them?

What reason did the guy give for replacing your existing distributor?

He said the old style vacuum ones arn't as good as the new 009's. He thort this night cure the problem. Also the dissy cap is a bit cracked so that needs doing anyway. Cheers
