Engine swap

Does a 2ltr pancake style engine slot straight in as a replacement in an early bay? Just thinking over options to increase performance.

No is the easy answer it isnt that simple,

A well set up 1600 is just as good as a 2L I've found from driving a fair few of both.

I've got a standard 1600 twin port engine at present.
Is it just a case of putting it on a rolling road to set it up, or is there anything I should be doing myself first? Bear in mind I'm a complete novice!!

Either a rolling road or a GOOD vdub specialist will be able to get it tuned up and running on song for you.

I'm up in hull, east yorks.
The full engine is removed from my van at present whilst its in for a re spray. Is there anything I could be doing to it before I re fit it?
