Hi....just ordering a new engine valence seal. My bus is a 71 so has the removable valence. Do people fit this seal in one length or cut it into 3 strips so it's easy to take the valence out again etc??

Cheers
Craig

Thanks guys [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES] one for the bank hol weekend!

I think theres a bit of misinterpretation going on here, the seal comes long enough to do the removable valance and the 2 short sides pieces that are fixed in the engine bay, you will never do this in one piece as the side pieces hardly ever line up correctly with the valance and they get crushed. fit the seal to the removeable valance then cut off the piece left and use it it to do the 2 side pieces, thats what we always do. Usually needs a bit of lube something like WD40 to allow it to slide in the groove :)

VALENCE SEAL?
I've only got a gearbox and engine seal rubber, my valence is also removable and has nothing it just screws down!

Anyone got a link to what it should look like and where to get it, had a quick look on machine7 didn't see it but VWH will do, cheers

Cheers Graham, looks a bit like my engine seal though, now I'm worried all my rubbers are wrong!
Still atlas I won't be bored

When you say engine seal do you mean the one that goes at the back of the engine against the firewall?, if so they are similar but different, the engine seal has a single flap whereas this one has 2 flaps that are designed to sit either side of the tinware above the cylinder heads and the piece of fin around the bottom pulley.

I'll have to have a look in the manual, I've got gearbox seal and have one flat one running around the engine tin wear so I'll see.
