Hi,

When the engine was removed from my '71 Westy the wiring wasn't marked at all and I'm at the stage of connecting it all back up.
The dynamo is self-explanatory, but coming through the bulkhead next to the regulator I have a plastic sleeve with two wires. I'm guessing that the dark green/light green wire here is for the oil pressure switch and the other wire, which is currently black, is for the electric choke. Can anyone confirm this, the Haynes manual I have shows no diagram for my van and there are no colours marked either!!

In addition, on the other side of the bulkhead I have a single white/black which I am confident is the ignition feed. Correct?

Thanks in advance!

I think the choke, coil and fuel solenoid are all connected to the same 12 volt ignition feed wire which should be one of the cables. If you connect one of these wires to ground via a test lamp (with ignition on) one of them will give a bright light on the lamp (12v ignition feed). The other will glow slightly dimmer when connected to ground and should also illuminate the oil warning lamp in the cab (2 lamps connected in series), this one is your oil pressure switch circuit wire.

Hi,

The dark green/light green, which is actually blue with a green trace is your oil pressure switch. The black wire goes onto the coil and is the ign wire to the the coil, the auto choke wires and fuel solinoid attach to the same connection on the coil.(term 15)

the black with white wire on the opposite side i am guessing is your reverse light wires. as these normally come through that side.there should be one wire with an inline fuse going to the coil (same term again 15) the other wire goes to the light units. the lamps earth through the body.

hope this helps

Jon

Thanks Jon.
The wiring has been 'modified' at the rear a little so I'll get the meter out tomorrow, but you've certainly given me some valuable pointers!
