Has anyone else ever had a bad experience when buying from a fellow EB'r?

I was stiffed by someone selling a dual carb set-up, turned out the manifolds were not a matched pair and forgot to mention it in their add.
You live and learn, but I was pissed off that they knew they were not right and just decided to shift them on. The seller's moral compass is seriously wrong.

I've been sent for free, not even paid post on: rear light lenses, indicator switch. Paid post only on a carb and was given a gear stick at a show all from wanted ad's on here.

I bought a carb I thought was for a tp on here and it was for a sp, I suppose I should have done my home work, so 99.9% better then good

I was promised that a front beam would fit my 69 bay but it was from a later version & had to spend £100 on fabricating work to make it fit.
That said, it was in good order & probably worked out about the cost as buying from a dealer. Still it did feel like I'd been taken....

In answer to your question, yes but let's move on. This thread does nothing but help you vent. Not having a go at you but all this does is throw a negative spin on an otherwise positive environment. The seller in question will already know he's been dishonest and KamperKarma will catch up with him.

Can't say I have. I have moved things on at cost price and received great value in return, often sourcing stuff for a few quid that I cannot easily find elsewhere. My 'new' Devon wardrobe for a tenner was a steal.
EB'rs, I salute you. :D

yes, once, over some Dormy bits.however he's not a 'regular' EBer on here so in my view he is someone who is registered and sold bits.Think we all know & trust the majority of EB regulars & still my favorite forum with a good bunch of solid members.man hugs all round

Don't get me wrong, the vast majority of members are brilliant and will bend over backwards to help. I must have been unlucky to have dealt with one of the few that thought it acceptable to act in such a way.
As said above, Karma will get them in the end. :D

Yes. bought some 'new', 'unused' deluxe window seals of someone on here relatively cheap about a year ago. Put them in my box of new seals to fit. About 2 months ago was going through my stuff seeing what jobs to do next and noticed one of the seals looked damaged. Got them all out and they all have screwdriver stab marks in them from a bodged install. £100 wasted.

figured it was to late to contact them as you'd get the 'ok when I sold em response'. yes I should have checked them at the time, but on the flipside this is a forum where you should trust people and they knew what they were selling.

they know what they sold, I know not to buy from them.

you live and learn

I'd like to think if anyone has an issue with anything I have passed to them, free or paid for, they would let me know time permitting

Unfortunately there a people with questionable morals in all walks of life

I am guilty of being slow to post stuff out but always make sure i treat people how i want to be treated.

But i also try to help others out where i can.

J.

I have nothing but praise for all on here that I have been fortunate enough to buy off. Finding parts is a potential minefield. Asking questions can always help to clarify.
This is a great forum don't let a few bad apples spoil it for you and everyone else.

Not really for this thread but, if you have been mis-sold something and you have documentary evidence, electronic or otherwise, I'm sure you would have a worthy legal case.

I have had a few transactions via this forum and have had my faith in human kindness restored. It still amazes me when I see goods and information passed freely (in a lot of cases) between members.
I find this forum a great place to spend some time and wouldn't let the dealings of a few pitiful souls spoil what is a predominately upbeat hangout.
If ripping off a member of the "brethren" gives you your jolly's, then chewy on ya boot, ya lowlife.
Karma takes its time and has sharp teeth

Call me old fashioned but a while back the thread would have been on the positive eg 'Don't you always get a deal with Earlybayers selling on here?!!' leaving any negatives to come out among the praise.

Let's leave all the moaning and negativity to other forums!

Bought loads of stuff of peeps on here. Had some very good deals and some awesome ones  the other ones that I`m not sure of just haven`t been fitted and are on the long list of things to do and are waiting somewhere in the dark recesses of the garage to be fitted

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,, It`s all good on here  :p  :p

I've had stuff sent to me on the proviso "if it works - pay me,if it don't,bin it" how's that for trust! I love it here.by far the best forum I'm on!
Thanks all

I agree - I prefer a positive post - although it seems to reinforce how decent the members on here are. There's always a few wrong uns but they don't last long. :D

I'm pretty new on here and so far I've not had any negative experiences, plenty of +ve ones and one neutral where if I'd asked the right q's I'd have not misunderstood what I was getting, so that was more down to my presumption.

I've bought a few bits off here at very reasonable prices and they have alway been good quality stuff. If i had sourced the stuff of the dreeded e-bay then i would have more than likely been tucked up, most vw stuff on there seem to start withe the phrase "rare" "nos" and then they stick a massive price on it

From what us admin team get involved with, I'd say the bad deal ratio on here is very small.

:)

I`ve always found everyone on here to be very helpful and any parts i`ve bought have been fairly priced and as advertised.
So only positive experiences from me :D
Cheers Paul.

I have to say my experience has all been positive, fairly priced bits and loads of invaluable free advice.
Karma will catch up with them ;)
