I had already made up my mind that I was buying a Bluebird for my newly built engine. but decided to go for a 1776 instead, so now I'm back to square one.

The obvious choice would be a Vintage Speed, but after looking at most of the photos, they appear to stain the bumpers. Is this due to incorrect fitting or bad design for a bus?

The bus has a good set of original heat exchangers and I want things to look stock, nothing sporty or loud.

I could live with a twin beetle exhaust, but open to suggestions.

EB's look cool with twin beetle pipes in my opinion. Better than the standard exhaust.

My suggestion :)

I got a reply from Bluebird about the '1600' exhaust kit,

"These have been dyno'd on a 1776 by the engine builder John Maher and give excellent breathing and bottom end torque."

So there you go.

I can recommended the stainless exhaust from Bluebird, fitted mine at the beginning of the year, perfect direct replacement and not too loud, just a bit deeper than standard. I only have a standard 1600 though....

Just a thought - check out Mr Brightside's thread. He cut his tailpipe and turned it as it fouled the overriders. His look perfect.

I got in touch with Vintage Speed directly, they made me a custom exhaust with the tailpipe lower than standard so that it clears the over-riders. No staining of the bumper :)
