External Oil Filter

Crawling under the back of Hank today looking at Towbar etc I notice he has an external oil filter fitted in the nearside rear corner, this isn't standard is it?

No but in some peoples eyes a welcome addition... so hows it coupled to the motor?

Commonly known as a 'full flow' conversion usually involves an oil pump cover with an oil outlet which is then routed through the filter (via those two black bendy pipes in your picture) and back into an oil gallery (choice of one or two).

If you've not done it yet I suggest you change oil and filter. Mostly they use aVW Golf type cartridge although many diiferent sorts will fit if its a
'standard' adaptor.
