can someone suggest an automatic fire suppression system to fit in the engine bay ? ive looked on tinternet but its all a bit unclear which is the best , whom the suppliers are ,how easy to fit, and how much to buy one.

I've got a Firetec,got on a group buy off the late bay,I think cool air have been advertising lately.You can choose powder or foam,fors and against for both.I got foam either is better than neither,easy to fit.hth.

I bought this one on the group buy offer on this forum:

http://www.vwaircooledworks.co.uk/Fire-Extinguisher-System.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here's the group buy thread:

Its a quality piece of kit and complete with absolutely everything you need for the installation. Top quality service from the sellers as well. It does everything, extinguishes the fire, cuts the engine & fuel pump and doesn't fill the engine full of foam or powder.

I got a fireboy installed in mine Pete at vw Aircooled works fitted it! Uses gas to starve the fire of oxygen! A lot cleaner and is monitored with a led on your dash!

Pic below, there is a thread going on here and I will message him to look at this one :)

Hi - If you would like to have a look at the install instructions for our clean gas Fire suppression system, drop me yours email address by a pm and I will send them over to you. ( don't think attachments work on here publicly)

The system works by reacting with the fire and starts a chain reaction that basically takes the heat / energy out the fire. The system comes with an LED off a pressure sender so can be set up to cut of your electronic fuel pump if you are running one.

I am more than happy to send over details for you to look at, or we are doing quite a lot of shows this season if you would like to see the system in the flesh. our next show is dub odyssey, then white noise, skeg vegas bus fest.

Eh up Mrs H'

I bought a foam filled Firetec and fitted it easy enough in the bus,got it from TLB group buy setup up by JENW i believe.
All is well so far,mounted the body on the rear wheel arch and the pipe was fitted on some perforated aluminium,between the ceiling of engine bay and the aluminium i put some 1" king span for insulation/sound and fire resistant properties.

Regards.

Sharky.

We have the Fireboy system as supplied by Peter at VW Aircooled Works.
The system is small and discrete and gives us peace of mind being new bus owners and having seen pics of bus fires.
Highly recommend VW Aircooled Works, Peter is a top bloke.
