I have a 1969 Bay, stock suspension. I have some dropped spindles. I have removed the front trailing arms.

- Is it necessary to flip the backing plate?
- The leaves are no longer aligned, is it normal to tack a weld on the end to line them up so the trailing arms go back in?
- I think my stock shocks are shot. I assume pressing on them should make them return on their own??!!
- I can't seem to find a supplier of the grub screws that hold the trailing arms onto the leaves.

Thanks in advance

You dont need to move or change anything else on reassembly, the backplate gets fitted normally.

You shouldnt need to weld the leaves, in fact heat doesnt do sprung steel much good, just wiggle the trailing arms on, should be easy enough.

Chances are you'll need to buy some front coilovers anyway as your shocks wont be strong enough anymore.

Machine 7 definately sell the lock nuts and grubscrews http://www.machine7.com/section.php?xSec=426" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Backing plates need modifying to clear the bottom ball joint. Normal method is cut a big piece out, i recessed mine to clear the balljoint (see my 'gallery/build thread below)
Shocks will only 'return' if they are gas shocks, regular fluid shocks wont. KYB's are pretty good, I run them on mine, but it will depend on your wheel and tyre choice, as to whether they hit the arches or not.
Leaf springs, should be a wiggle,but you can 'taper' the end of the pack to aid fitment, I wouldnt weld them, for reason already stated.
