recently changed shocks to prevent tyres scraping arches but the problem is still there! begining to think that the last owner must have lowered the vehicle ??? maybe that was the reason he had tiny tyres on the front. Ive since replaced with 195 on a 14" rim.
Anyway my question is how can i tell if the front beam has been turned or whatever it is that you do and also will it be an easy job to raise the van back up?
garage job or DIY job? cheers :D

Cheers Barkafer....
Just this afternoon had a gander underneath with a guy whos clued up! established that the beam has been turned but not with adjusters... they have slotted the tube, rotated beam and then welded it permenantly in that position!!!! bit of a bodge but there you go. bit late for new adjusters now so plan is to break welds , turn back to original position an re-weld Mmmmmm  this should give me a little more clearance.

Also adding Anti roll bars front and rear. Decide to opt for a heavy duty roll bars from JKampers rather than standard, not sure if there any better, they cost more so I presume they are ???? Any ideas ? :?

Front anti roll bars work  but do nothing to stop scrape unless you is getting it only on bad bends. Great idea to get em back on anyhoooow  . Maybe a cheap stock beam is the anwer ?? The front anti roll makes the world of difference to the ` wobbliness ' of your bus, so well worth replacing, as far as the heavy duty ones, sounds good but not sure if these are better than the rest of the crap that`s available or as good as an original one

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, Not keen on wobbly scrapers

What year is your van?

I ask as i am just about to remove my complete beam from a 1970, to be replaced with a king & link set up.

Only thing you will need from yours is your leaves as i will need them

Let me know if you want it.

cheers ozzie dog for the reply and thanks rexer for the offer. booked in for work doing early next week so will prob go for welding option as the price is very fair..

I've lowered my bus, the adjuster is at the lowest setting and I've not fitted an anti-roll bar. I think the ride is far better tbh.

I'm interested to see the diference with mine, before and after! as mentioned before Im running 195 tyres on the wheels and when cornering it puts the fear of life in me especialy when entering left hand corners exiting from a hill as it makes the tyres grind... got to go at about 10 mph! You must have some hard shocks on yours or smaller tyres??? dont ask me though as I'm learning as I go along :? Thing is I've never driven a 33 year old vehicle b4 or any other camper for that matter so its difficult for me to compare a good or bad ride. I cant beleive that 6 months ago I had to explain my reasons for wanting expensive dropped spindles on my bus to my girlfriend ( you know what its like ) but now Im wanting the thing raised  I'll keep you all posted next week once bus is raised a little and roll bars are fitted. Or and cheers all for sound advice !!!!
