Front Chassis Notches... is 3mm steel pipe thick enough?

Looks like I need to cut 2 small notches in my front chassis rails for my track rods. Thinking about doing some loop style notches with the rod running thru the centre...
my question is... is 3mm thick steel pipe 'man' enough for the job?!?
