Hi
I have a 1970 and it has had its front seats replaced as per the attached pic.

I would either like to re-upholster these or replace with a set of original seats. So my question is can anyone recommend someone who cold re-upholster these and/or know of anyone that has a set of front seats available, don't mind what condition they are in.

Cheers

Darren

Sorry seems I am struggling to upload pics will keep trying

Give Delilahs a call in my email sig, they will help you im sure :)

depending where you are there is a guy in surrey called Ian who has a small company called EuropIan trim, he does top work, and specialises in VW splits, beetles and bays, 07919 488606

Are they Rover 220 Turbo Coupe seats? AKA 'TomCat'?

Good seats if so!

They look ok anyway, but other wise, I'd keep and re-trim if happy with them.

Looking at around £200 a seat in full leather, bit more down South perhaps.

Having owned two in my lifetime - I also recognised them as soon as I saw the pic!

Made by Recaro, but didn't have any stitching to say otherwise - lovely seats that you used to be able to pick up for a song.

Never owned one, but still think they were one of the most underrated cars out there. Looked lovely in that midnight blue. And fast!

I note they also have lumber adjustment. Worth re trimming in my eyes. A very good seat!

Thanks everyone they are great seats with lots of support and comfort. I want to match them to the ones on the back that have been reupholstered already but been quoted £350 to £400 each!!! Will try post a pic of them. Where could I get them done for £200 as I am based in Yorkshire and therefore officially up north ..

Ah! I had mine done at Tony Archer in Huddersfield. Next to the John Smith’s Stadium. His website is http://www.tonyarcher.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mine are from a Golf MK1 GTi. He repaired the foam, re trimmed in dark blue leather with light blue piping, and also added a map book pocket to each (very handy). This was about 4 years ago, and he charged 400 for both.

I dropped the seats off to him, and collected two weeks later.

Very good quality, and very good price. Also opens Sat morning too. Oldish chap, and you have to phone him sometimes, if you know what I mean.

Other company would be J&S at Donny. http://www.vwinteriors.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; run by husband and wife, and very helpful.

No worries mate. There's quite a few around, but that's two recommended ones to you started. They'll match the stiching and piping easily, as well as the colour.

Good luck!

Been to see Tony Archer and he was really helpful. I have decided to keep the seats till I can find a set of original seats, I will get these upholstered and then sell the ones that are currently in. That way the van stays original(ish) and so do the Rover seats as they are in good working order.

So if anyone has any seats they can point in my direction I would be very grateful.

Cheers

Nice one, glad he helped. Did you find it first time? Bloody small turning straight after bridge.

Did he give you a rough price to do them anyway, just out of interest?

Yes I only live a few miles away so know the area well... You were spot on at £200 per seat which isn't bad at all I was quoted double that elsewhere.

Am going to VanJamboree next month so will keep my eyes peeled for some seats if nothing comes up beforehand.

Cheers

Can't fault that price. And I can vouch for his workmanship.

Just shows how much others are overcharging in a way, and, his premises are fairly new and done out well.
