Front speakers.

Hey folks. Another silly question. Where have you put your front speakers in your buses ? I dont want to cut holes in my door cards or kick panels and i don't really want them on show so obviously under the dash. Im thinking of making pods for each corner under dash. What you folks done or how have you put your speakers in ? Cheers.

I bought some plastic repro kick panels and mounted them in those. Stashed away the originals for the future.

Hey folks. @Clem thats a good idea. Hmmm il have to look into that. Trouble is my kick panels match my cab floor carpeting and cab area and im sure it was Spirit of the 50s i got my set from and i dont think they are going anymore . Il have to see what i can do. Not hard to do Cheers.
@Ben72Bay. Ohhhh that don't actually look bad does it. This has thrown a spanner in the works ha. I would like that patch over the brake reservoir too. That reminds me . I really need to deep clean my carpets ha. Cheers.

Van speakers
When we bought our van 20yrs ago it had classic 70s parcel shelf speakers stuck to the roof behind the front seats. They have spotlights in the back pointing to the rear.
Works pretty well. They’re still there lol.

I'm replacing my center mount dash speaker for a Retrosounds dual voice dash speaker. Both channels in the original center mounting position then (Dash Speaker). Then I'm coupling them with these retro babies (surface mount pod speakers) but keeping them visible on top of the dash but they could be easily hung from underneath and remain pretty much invisible. That should be plenty up front and in keeping with the age of the bus.

That’s a good idea.
I could run that centre speaker off the rear channel signal, to go with the front kick panel speakers.

In mine, I made a bracket to have them under the dash vents. The idea was to avoid any alterations to the van, and also to make them not visible from outside - the radio is also hidden under the glove box. They are 45° down, not vertical, and still do a good job from there. I also have a bigger set in the back to have a fuller sound. Will try to remember to take a photo.

Kick panels for me, mine aren't anything special, no way was i going to put them in my brand new door cards.

It is possible to run both front left and right through that speaker, I just chose to go down the dual channel speaker route. Couldn't say what the quality would be like, a mono channel with dual inputs. You'd leave your rear channels free for some rear speakers then.

HI, this is where I fitted mine - in the doors and in the Rock n Roll bed base.

I didn't cut holes in the footweels, I bought some ridged PVC ones off eBay for £30 and cut those up.

you can fit 2- 4" speakers in the dash spot, I used a piece of aluminum to copy the stock bracket and cut 2 holes

Cheers for the replies folks. Things to think about here. Im ordering my speakers later on so we shall see what happens . I have a little idea of what to do but we shall see how it goes. Watch this space .
