I have managed to get the Fuel Sender out of my 72 Crossover. The reason it wasn't reading was that the Nichrome Wires had come adrift. I also don't have the sleeve/tube that the float sit within to keep it steady or protected. I am not sure if it's actually needed or not. But I am guessing that the float in the tube will keep the reading a little more stable rather than the fuel just sloshing it about, along with less stress on the wires with the force of the fuel hitting the float at the sides. So I am in need of a tube that fits a 72 Crossove or the size of tube so I can get one made or find something similar to stop it from getting damaged. Anyone got anything that can help me along my way. Thanks

I changed mine last year so I guess I have the old one kicking about. I’ll check and measure it for you.

Any use?

Top stuff, many thanks. I don't suppose you could put a magnet to it and confirm it's definitely aliminium. I have cut my access hole bigger and shone a tourch down into the tank and somehow the tube is in the bottom of the tank. I need to fish it out and can't use a magnet if it's definitely alli. I have a plan but it would be easier to use a strong magnet to stand it upright.

Yeah, definitely aluminium. Good luck fishing! :)

Never seen one fall off in the tank before but they are only either held on by a very small nut or sometimes a slide clip so possible.

I guess it can only finally happen when you take the sender out of the tank as it wouldn’t be deep enough otherwise.
