I need to replace the bushes in the rod. I really need to do it in situ as the engine and gearbox are just fine. I have a 72 crossover and I have the bent first part of the shifter rod. Was wondering if because it's bent it can be moved to come out at an andle and therefore releasing the other longet straighter part. Any help will be greatly recieved.

The front part of the shift rod is removable from under the bus. Unfortunately you do have to remove the engine and gearbox to get the rear section out, due to the way it's manufactured it only comes out of the shift tube through the engine bay.

I do have a bit of play under the shifter so I guess if I change that out first, I can see how bad it is. I can also assess the play with the front one removed. Thanks
