I hope this is allowed but this question relates to our 75 crew cab not our 72 dormobile. The problem i am having is that when the engine starts the generator light does not go out immediately and in order for it to go out I have to hit the accelorater hard. Can anyone sugest how to solve the problem. Would replaceing the regulator help.

Any help gratefully received Thanks

how longs the problem been going?
how olds the battery?
whats the voltage across the battery on and off load?
whats your battery/genny connections like?

Being a '75 you probably have a Alternator and guess your brush box is on the way out this is common symptom that the brushes are failing..

Is it a generator or alternator? Have you checked the tension of the belt? Are all the connections to the alternator/dynamo clean and secure? If it is an alternator is it internal or external regulator?
