So what are we all going to do about it?

Other than flying the nest to warmer climbs, what are we doing to Protect our pride and joy? I have previously not had to worry about my asset rusting away, but this is my first winter with my 71 outside on the drive and I am sure you lot have some tips and tricks to keeping the rust and mold at bay :?:

All ideas welcome

Cheers :D

Oh, I don't plan to stop driving it, but with a six week old boy around its not going to be every weekend either. Surely there must be a preferd type of wax, or a way of keeping the inside dry. Maybe there isn't? I thought with all the years experience around there may be a 'winterising' check list........... :?:

dehumidifier gel helps to keep the moisture levels down get a camping one that you recharge indoors or the microwaveable/ovenable crystals...

any good quality wax will do, give the paint a good gentle clean then apply the wax wether you use a wax to polish or as in the case of ankor to protect is your choice just be aware that the likes of ankor can darken the paint almost instant patina....

From next week the bay becomes my daily :D
Luckily i still have exhaust fumes (heat exchangers) to keep me warm

I'm running J-tubes :( on the plus side i won't die from being gassed, just freeze to death instead

I'll be adjusting the choke and air filter to the winter settings soon, I suppose.

As my daily driver, the heating on mine needs to be good... ;)

Mine will get more used in the winter as I wuss out taking the bike to work on the odd windy/snowy day! - having to use my second car on a crappy rainy day when it should be tucked up in the garage sucks :( - unless I pull rank and take the family car - still, would be interested to know best practise, I'd just intended to get the waxoil done beforehand and layer on some polish - then wash it next when the sun returns 8)

Though I need to make sure my pre-heating system is up to scratch as a priority - can live without heat in the cab but need to make sure my engine is nice and cosy before it gets any colder, have nothing fitted at the moment but stove pipe and correct air cooler are on it's way!

I'm in the process of removing the supports of the garage roof and remaking them so I can get the bus in the there!

A bit extreme but I would like it inside. At time like this I have a rethink about lowering the bus!

Mine was a bit extreame
from sitting on the drive

being nice and snug in the garage and room to work on it 8)
makes me smile every time i go into the garage.
Just a bit of clearence,

I had to sell my 65 midget to make space and fund it plus it paid for all rust free doors for the van :D

Im currently heading into Austria in mine, driving every day helps dry it out but even heat exchangers dont keep us warm there must be a leak in the sýstem somewhere...

Its snowing today in Bratislava and we are heading West to the Austrian Alps
