Check the clutch is fully disengaging when you press the pedal down.
Once your sure the clutch (and cable) are not at fault, the next thing to try is to change the gearbox oil. Undo the filler plug first though because you should make sure you can re fill after you drain. Use normal EP 80/90 gearbox oil. Easiest way to fill the box is using plastic squeeze bottle.
