Over a few too many beers at the weekend, my wife and I and our best friends decided it would be great if the four of us could try and get festival tickets and do Glastonbury next year in our bus. Any one done it recently ? What is the set up for campers like ? Can you use an awning too? Etc etc. Any tips and comments please.

Mind full of information. :lol: We managed this year to get tickets and then lost out on the camping tickets.
It is then a close call whether you, hope someone sells their camping tickets or forfeit the main tickets
and go the following year. You can camp in fields nearby however we wanted to do the whole thing.
Yes we lost our booking fee. However it did not turn out to bad as we are not Kanye fans and
The Foo Fighters did not play.
Maybe it was just meant to be that. We are going to try again next year and will hopefully get camping tickets to. Good luck in your endeavour.

Myself, the Mrs and a couple of friends of ours got campervan tickets for 2014 - was the first year we weren't in a tent. The plots aren't a defined size - you are just herded into lines when you turn up, so it is up to you to make sure you park with enough room to put up your awning etc. Some people turn up in motor homes the size of buses, so space isn't particularly limited!
It is nice being able to take your own food and therefore save a bit of cash not having to go to the food stalls, but it is a fair trek back to the camper fields, so the only times we went back were to change into warmer clothes in the evening, or sometimes only to hit the sack at night.
The main plus point for us was not having to queue to get in with all our camping gear - in 2012 it took us 6 hours of shuffling inch by inch in a poorly organised queue, and in the muddy conditions, we didn't want to put any of our stuff on the ground. Never again!
Definitely a more relaxed experience in the camper, just be prepared for lots of walking, and the hill of death down to the main site!

Yes, awnings are allowed, seperate tents are not but over the weekend they do seem to pop up. Loads of space so you get the pitch that you need with no bother and everyone is very friendly and accomodating and the stewards will ensure you have enough room.
Ticket sales day is Sunday 4th October but you only pay a deposit then. Next year when you pay the balance (if you get tickets) make sure you pay it straight away and book your camper pass striaght away as they sell out in no time.

It can just be seen peeking out behind the Eriba.
I am probably one of the older forum members and could be described as an 'old git'! I was concerned that I would not enjoy the event but I liked it so much that I am hoping to go again this year. We camped for the whole week and not just for the weekend as there are things to do from Thursday onwards as I recall. As already mentioned - it is nice to be able to escape the madness at the end of the day and enjoy your bus as a camper. All sorts of campers and loads of VW buses add to the experience and there is so much to see and do that it is a challenge to see it all!
The only problem is that tickets are not easy to get and last year the 'buying window' was only open for about 3 hours! Good luck with your tickets and maybe see you there next year!

Have done 3 in a tent and 3 in the camper and i am not sure i could go back to the tent now.
In the camper fields you have a lot more space plus the comforts of the van.
And, it gives you some quiet time away from the craziness when needed.
We have always gone in on the Tuesday morning when they open the camper fields and have always got a good spot in one of the fields close to Gate C, maybe a 5 mins walk so can pop back up to camper to top up the beer rucksack if needed.
But, i would not fancy being in one of the fields at the back of the campervan fields as thats got to be an extra 15-20 min walk to get to the entrance gate. May not sound much but after you have spent the day walking/dancing/stumbling for miles around the place i wouldn't want the extra walk. This year i managed to get from the Pyramid Stage to the van, top up the beer supply, and back again in 40-45 mins. I wouldn't want to add an extra 20 mins each way to that if i was in one of the back fields.
So thats my tip, get there as early as you can in the camper as from what i have seen they fill up the campervan fields from front to back e.g. Get there early to get in one of the fields close to the gate. [But, weirdly, we woke up on Friday morning and a T4 had set up camp right next to us overnight]
As for space, well this year we had people camping with us and the stewards had no problem us putting up 3 tents in the space next to the camper. Although only 2 tents in the pics but you get the idea of the space.

Think we are definately going to try and get tickets (although at first glance, the registration process looks more involved than applying for a passport or adopting a kid !) fingers crossed we get them.

I beleive that camper van passes will go on sale later this month. Treat this sale as importantly as the ticket sale day as they sell out fast and this year will be allocated to owners, as per the tickets themselves, so wont be transferable.

6 of us on-line, with 10 computers between us and not even a sniff :evil:
to those of you did and if its your first time, it defo wont be your last, its BLOODY AMAZING and lots of VW's around in the campervan field as well
