have a look at this mate Frankie.

This is the one I used,

according to these dudes, screwing IN the small 'mixture' screw has the effect of reducing the volume of air, thus richening the mixture. The fuel is regulated by the main jet size. Allowing more air to mix with the fuel (by unscrewing) weakens the mixture, or so I think I understand. Don't take this as gospel, someone is sure to come along in a moment to flame my rudimentary description.

In is lean, out is rich.

I never had much luck with them (or IDFs - I can get them going fine but not perfect), it helps having the linkage and jetting setup spot on first.

I should pay more attention, I thought the post said setting 34 (p)icts

That info was of no help.

base setting for most of these carbs is mixture screw out 2.5 to 2,75 turns from fully in.

This give you the start point to tune from.

Then set the tick over speed on a warm engine to between 800 and 900 rpm using the air screw (larger of the two).

Then very slowly turn the fuel screw in till highest idle archived then back out .25 of a turn, last thing is to reset tick over using air screw to the range above.

Sorry just read the post again, ignor this its for single solex carbs.

On 40 idf's, i found jetting the main battle and fooking expensive lol. I used a Gunsons color-tune. Proper old skool, found it in the back of my dads shed from when he used to hot vw's back in the day. When i'm happy that it's fully run in (new engine) i'll have it on a rolling road, those boys will get it running 100%
