As I said before I ditched the metal clips in favour of a homemade solution. In the following pic you can just about see how I secured the stoneguards - there are a couple of small black plastic cable grips through which I've threaded the headlamp adjuster screws. The stoneguards sit more or less flush with the glass and don't rattle around like they did before with the metal clips. Make sure that the adjuster screws are screwed in the same distance as they were prior to the stoneguard fixing otherwise your lights will be misaligned.
