Morning Guys, I was adjusting the tappets the other day - 1 and 2 cylinders ok, but when I got to number 3 I saw that the valve guide was moving up and down with the valve! I realise this will need replacing but would it need an oversized guide or is it a more common problem which just requires a new one drifting in?
Any opinions welcomed please.

Regards, Si

Ideally you'll need to fit an oversized one...

I've got a head in at the moment that I need to do the same to!!

Is it an inlet or exhaust? Type 1 or 4?

Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply. I've not taken the head off yet to check for any other damage so am hoping this is the only problem I have with it. It's a standard 1.6 T1 inlet valve. What would cause this to happen in the first place?

Regards, Si

Well one of 2 things.. either the guide was slightly under-size, or the head was over-size...

Either way, you're going to need an over-sized guide now to get it fixed!!

As it's and inlet I can add you a guide to an order I'm about to place with my US supplier... I've had a couple on order for around a month now from a UK supplier, and they've got no update as to when they'll be getting any in!!

:)

No problem... I'll be getting a few as spares, so just give me a shout if you change your mind!!
