I have a US 68 Panel van which has sealed headlamp units - what is correct for the UK?

Can i use beetle lamps? or is there a normal non-sealed lamp unit for vans!?

Cheers, Mike

When I went to replace one of mine recently I found it was the same as the ones for old minis/mgb etc.About £10 from local motor factors.

Have they got a dip/high and park light?

Yeh, dipped / full beam , but the side light opening was just a circle of clear glass so I used plastic padding to hold the bulb holder in place. This is how the blown one was setup.

ah - i don`t have any sort of bulb holder - i have a wire with a 3 pin plug on, a big circular bracket which the sealed beam is screwed onto

My 1970 was the same, Im not sure if this was an upgrade done by some owners in the US, as all the stuff Ive seen for earlies shows the lamps as having separate reflectors and lenses. I would just fit new UK units with the pop out bulbs.

sorry to hijack the thread :msn4: but can anyone tell me in which order the wires connect onto the back off the unit ie. white top etc

cheers

Mike

We normally use either beetle or Golf MKII units which most of the suppliers sell, I see slammedresto posted a link to an offering from Just Kampers where they were offering both lights for £38 which is cheap, you basically need a unit with a sidelamp either built in or the facility to take one,
