Can anyone tell me do your headlights come on only with the ignition on? Mine will switch on even with ignition off is this normal?

The headlights on my UK '71 only work with ignition on...

Sidelamps work with ignition off.

I believe the US spec wiring diagram for a '71 shows it should have an ignition (switched) feed too.

The one for 1970 shows it as being a live feed (i.e. headlamps can be on with ignition off)

Same here. That is the correct working so you can leave your sidelights on if parked on a main road for example. Don't want your battery running down if you left the headlights on!
