Help, currently halfway through oil change!

I have just drained the engine oil, removed the sump plug then the sump plate and I have this:

Does this piece come out? I was expecting to see a wire strainer which I just took out cleaned then put everything back together...

I have a 1641 VEGE engine.

That is the wire strainer, pull it off same way as the plate :wink:

Make sure you replace the gaskets in the right order as well:

paper gasket on first, strainer, paper gasket, sump plate, copper washers, nuts.
I find a thin smear of grease on the paper gaskets helps as well.
