Help please on what have I got ?

Hello to all - first post on the forum
I am just about to commence my first restoration - wish me luck ! But as a first request for help I'm trying to be clear as to what 'Cynthia' is. She was first registered in April 1970 - a Devon Caravelle, has low indicators at the front, crescent shaped vents at the top at the back but has large rear lights. I thought these should be smaller units with a registration date of 1970. Is this possible or might he rear panels have been changed ? No obvious signs of that happening but ...?

Have you any pictures of your van?

Like you say, a '70 registered van would have originally had small rear lights - these didn't come in until 1972 model year (after August 1971).

Post some pics mate - front/back and inside engine bay should be sufficient

Thank you both for your replies. I will take a couple of pictures but she is a bit of a wreck ..... Have just gone back into the engine bay and can see under the rubbish a line / rust where welding has been completed - so guess the bottoms of both of the rear wings have been replaced and converted to the taller lights? Guess that was the done thing .....!
How do you post a picture to the forum ? Add / attach it as a file ?

Not too tricky

I do believe there certainly was a time where some owners would update vehicles to make them appear newer. In the same way, you sometimes see (older, more desirable now) Oval window Beetles which have been converted to have larger rear screens.
