Hi Guys,
Started the resto project on our earlybay. I have been thinking whats the best way to get rid of all the old paint and the best time to do this.
There are quite a few repair panels ect to go on, am i better stripping off the old paint and primer before i start work on the panels, only giving them a fesch coat of primer to keep rust at bay for winter? or leaving the old paint on, and cleaning once i have fitted all panels.
The paint is a thin layer but has very thick layers of primer underneath (2-4mm), it almost looks like a filler skimmed over the whole panel, im guessing that this is just the orignal primer.
How would you suggest removing all this?
Nitromors, wire wheel on drill (tried and not that good), light grinding and finishing with wire wheel, of paying someone to blast it?
Any suggestions / help would be much appreciated
