Hi,

Has anyone here bought an all new VW Heritage engine and put up a bit of mileage on it? Wondering if they're worth a punt.

Thanks Alex - you sound like a man with confidence in your product :)

It'd be great to hear some positive feedback from other EB members before I push the button...

Just today ordered a 1776 I will let you know the out come if u can wait that long :p

Hi had one of the early 1600 single port engines and have done over 10,000 miles in the last couple of yrs inc wolfsburg and back and still running fine on twin ict's. Only £2k then and no exchange so good value at the time usual teething problems but generally very happy with it. Hardest part is putting in the dissy drive shaft

Cheers - the dissy shaft bit really worries me - I've visions of a shim disappearing into the case

I saw Nigel H's explanation on Volkszone as to why its supplied without a dissy shaft (stops the shaft popping out if the engine is turned before the dissy is fitted). Its a pity that they don't just chuck a cheap 009 on it and be done with it like TES do.

Good to know that its working well after a good bit of use. They've no exchange required on the 1776 at the moment too which makes all the difference for me.

A cheap 009 would need to be checked with a strobe because if its not working right it could soon put paid to a nice new engine.

Personally I would be happy with one of these engines because if Alex rates them they will be fine, he knows his stuff IMO.

I'm running a Heritage 1641 SP2 engine that came from them new in 2012 after I got fed up with cheaper rebuilds. I've recently had an issue with it that was down to a small manufacturing fault and whilst the engine was out of its 12 month warranty they collected the engine off me, found the fault, fixed it and returned it to me a few weeks ago at no charge whatsoever.

To be honest the engine is now running better than ever with approx 5000 miles on it now and its just done the 660 mile round trip to Ninove without missing a beat cruising between 60-65mph all the way.

Can't fault that really and I always recommend their engines to my customers if someone is looking for a 'new' engine.

Big thumbs up from me and even though it has had a fault I still have massive confidence in it and VW heritage and it always helps when we have an earlybay insiders, hey Alex
