i made a comment in the thread about the pitfalls of buying on the internet and returns policies, alex took offence to me via pm and i apologised as i hadn't meant to offend him i was just generalising as in the past i'd had a rough deal in returns of crap goods - not from vwh as i made clear, i was told this was an irrelivant post but i thought internet forums were for discussions? anyway last i saw clem? posted to play nice and then the thread went, if i had any bearing on it i can assure you i'm not a troll.... i like popping on here but if i've had anything to do with the pulling of the threads then i haven't been told so i thought it was ok what i said, hell i even said sorry to alex and i hadn't even had a go at him!

We have had issues with people starting threads on here about dodgy goods or bad service when often they havent yet contacted the supplier. this happened just recently and it was decided that such threads would be pulled, as it left traders with a bad rep despite the end resolution.

Zeds thread wasn't quite like that, but the case was still being dealt with and was moving toward a resolution, then third parties were starting to weigh in with comments that weren't helping the situation, given that a VWH member of staff on here was personally helping out. For what it's worth, I commented on the thread but didn't delete it, though I think it's deletion was probably appropriate, it's technical nature had been subsumed and it was a rant thread.

Speaking generally, moderation on here is pretty much restricted to the removal of spam and the moving of threads to the correct forums. Comments and third party 'bumps' on the Vans For Sale Threads will be deleted, but never the threads themselves.

As for us (moderators) being gods who pander to sponsors ... Well that's an opinion and one that anyone is entitled to, from my perspective, I'll be respectful to any site sponsor but it's safe to say that any justified criticism is accepted and any true charlatans would be binned off as sponsors double quick. The site isn't 'that' desperate for the money.

Sorry that Zeds chosen to move on, but not every forum suits every person. I was on a cycling forum today that was unbelievably nasty, I didn't even bother registering.

I managed to read the entire thread before it was pulled. Zed was not bashing anyone it was merely the comments that followed that was the reason it was pulled.

I can appreciate why some threads are pulled but perhaps an email to the OP explaining the reason would be appropriate, I can appreciate this takes time but what, at the expense of loosing a genuine enthusiast riddled with knowledge and technical know how. I for one found Steve to be extremely helpful and he will be missed on this forum.

As far as I can make out, EB has far fewer sponsors than most sites and never touts for business. If traders want to advertise it is because of the people on the site not the mods.

I think in the time that I have been modding on the site I have deleted 2 threads and both times have let the person know why. I have less time on here at the moment due to the nocturnal habits of my 16 month old but I can honestly say that the mods always have the best interests of the whole group and get nothing out of the site other than the friendships formed.

Each to their own and horses for courses but I still believe that Early bay is a great forum with great people.

If anyone does have a problem, please ask the mods for their help, we try our best.

It's possible to delete individual posts. In this case it must have been decided to bin the lot. We could argue over the detail forever, but it's happened, the moderators on here are human and make decisions based on judgements at the time.

You are being totally unreasonable. Your comments about the site are bordering on ludicrous. Your thread decended into 'bash the advertisers' and now with this thread its the mods fault? if it wasnt for the advertising there would be no forum or better still members would be paying for it. I can count the number of sponsors on the site on both hands. I rarely if ever have had to delete threads that werent spam, but when a long standing valued member is deciding he's had enough because when its not even his fault, enough is enough. Yes i saw the communication which had nasty undertones and swearing and you didnt even give VWH the time to sort it. Im sure it would have been resolved if you had been more patient. This site is not and never will be the place to vent your fury if your disatisfied with a third parties service. As we all know that there is always two sides to the story.

You could have quite easily got inside help but the thread quickly decended into some trader bashing, thats not happening on here, period.
Anyone else wants to do some trader bashing do it elsewhere, as contrary to what some believe not everyone is in it for a quick buck.

If youve got a problem id be quite happy to talk to you and tell you why the thread was pulled. PM me your number. If not take yourself off to thelatebay lets see you bash some of their advertisers instead.

Pop, im sorry but theres a theme that runs along nicely on TLB when the gang get together theres a good slagging to be had. Some of your guys threatening to troll us? please. I saw the thread and a nasty email and that was enough. We hardly mod this site at all just some simple rules and anything else goes so some of the accusations thrown at us over there are infantile and purile. If he didnt want to get upset why did he take the time to insult us? a couple of beers down the pub is not an excuse and please don't try to pass it off and a joke and humour.

i havent got time to go through a thread and pick out the posts that are insulting etc. I would be quite happy for anyone to talk about stiff ball joints and the merits of using other brands but it is unfair to single out ANY supplier and start on them without even giving them a chance to sort it out, that process can take a few days not a few hours.

I only consider myself a very small minnow in a pond over here, just a guy who one day will own a 68 bay, whereas on the late bay i'm a massive poster and i'm like marmite (love or hate) but even i can see bitching between forums isn't good, we've always had banter but it shouldn't get personal, people have bad days, people make bad calls, but at the end of the day it's just a bloody forum to talk about vans, i'm sad zed got upset - i consider him a good mate, i'm also sad if my posts upset alex/were considered to have been off topic, i need to remember sometimes that the rules on here are a bit stricter than on tlb, i didn't realise some of you go on both sites with different user names though, that's crafty - although with a shit coloured van i doubt i'd be able to hide from you..... whereas your vans are all cream westys :lol:

for what it's worth i hope this gets sorted without a big fall out, both sites compliment each other and there's never a need to get personal, i remember the chap above with his buddy box idea, i even said good luck to him and showed him a pic of my original westy one, i do recall some less tactful peeps moaning about the cost but didn't realise it got out of hand.

I'm not sure that's true at all, i'd say if TLB is defined by anything, it's it's good natured, non- bullying atmosphere. There's quite a bit of piss-taking i know, but very little malicious comment. That said, i do remember the buddy box thread. I thought it was a good idea and a well made bit of kit, i think zed stuck up for you as well when a few people criticised it. It was only a few negative comments from hundreds of members, try posting that on vzi if you really want negative comments

both sides had points to make and were working towards a solution ,

Maybe the thread could have been left alone, locked, edited or as it was, deleted ... all true and all hold there own justifications. Either way it has happened now, and to my knowledge, hasnt really affected anyone in a direct or lasting way. As Ive said before the Mod team are just users, and I know we all have full time jobs to do, vans to fix, build and use, families to look after and we might not always have time to spend weeding a thread out that might be better off altogether gone ... Im not complaining or playing the martyr, noone is forced, or paid, to do this, we do it to help the forum run well. All the comments raised over this issue will be taken on board and will no doubt affect the next time such a scenario occurrs.
Finally, this is certainly not about The Late Bay versus Early Bay, there is not, or should certainly not be, any animosity ... if anyone feels that way inclined, I suggest they stick to theyre preffered forum and enjoy it.
